Belleville?
My husband, daughter and I are relocating to the Madison area in the next few weeks, and we are looking at all sorts of rental houses. We have been focusing on Verona/West Madison because my husband's job is in Verona.
That said, we've come across a few houses in the Belleville/Brooklyn area that seem interesting. How far is the commute from Belleville to Madison/Verona, and what is the area like?
Any pros and cons to the Belleville area?
Thanks!

My roomate is from Belleville, and I've been there once. It took 30-45 minutes to get there from downtown madison. The town itself is a small rural town, had a nice country feel to it. The high school is rather small, with about 90 students graduating each year I believe. Bottom line, this is a good atmosphere if you are used to the rural town life, but rather small if you are used to more suburban or urban areas.

If you're comfortable living that far out from Verona, you might consider going the extra step and looking into New Glarus. There's a bit more going on there and it's just a nice, charming town.

So are you going to explain what this supposed rot "from west side toward east" is or just leave us hanging? What is so much different about the "west" side that it's so much worse than the "east" side? What possible transformation occurs in the space of 8 or so blocks that forms the entire east-west length of the town that one side is any different than the other?
