What is a good high speed internet service provider to use in madison? I'm moving next month and I can't work without internet access so I need to have this set up before I get there.

Thanks!

We use TDS Metrocom for land line phone service and DSL. We've had few if any out-of-service issues. In most cases, I have found the staff at TDS to be reasonably friendly and capable of helping when we needed it. My spouse is the tech guru in the family and has gotten good advice from the TDS help desk several times.

I know that Charter also offers high speed internet service in Madison. However, based on some extremely unpleasant experiences with Charter in years past, I would never, ever do business with them again. That is a very subjective opinion, of course, and I am sure that many people think they're wonderful. I just personally would rather have a root canal than do business with Charter.

BookWorm, how much does TDS Mrtrocom cost? There's a few apartments I'm looking into that include internet service. They do not mention WHO they use but a price can tell me if it's worth it for it to be includedc in rent or toomuch a headache

Like any phone company, TDS has all sorts of different rates and prices, depending on your needs and preferences, but we're paying around $70 per month for landline and DSL together. I know they have a barebones kind of plan, but don't know how much that would be. Their website is here: TDS Telecom: Telephone and Internet Service for Home and Business (http://www.tdstelecom.com/Residential/ - broken link) although it doesn't look like you can get actual rate information unless you already have a TDS phone account. But there's an 800 number listed there, and I'm sure they can quote you rates that way.
