Telecommuting
Is anyone successfully working from home? I have been searching for something to do for extra income and am running into scams. Is this a myth or is there legitimate employment from home out there?
If you are not comfortable posting publicly, I would love to hear from you privately. Any ideas welcome, but please, do not spam me with the latest get rich quick scheme. I want to work, not waste time.
Thank you much!

WPS has people processing insurance applications or claims (I can't remember which) from their homes. They even provide you with a computer and dual monitors.

Thank you Megan.
I just took a look at the company and seems they are not hiring for 'homework' positions at this time. I will keep checking back with them though and I appreciate the 'heads up'!

Since telecommuting jobs don't have to be with local companies, you should consider researching this in City-Data's Work and Employment forum.

Have you ever worked at home before? I have done so full-time for many years and it's not all it's cracked up to be. Many people believe a fantasy that it's just sitting around in your jammies and "typing for a while" or "whenever you want" and earning buckets of money with very little time and effort. You've got to be disciplined and focused, and able to work without supervision. Many employers want their work finished within a specific time frame; as I assume WPS does, and mine is on a very strict schedule. It's difficult to get the work done if you've got children as a distraction.
I don't mean to be harsh or discouraging, but simply meant to get the truth out there. "Working At Home" is definitely not as easy as it sounds. I hope you find something suitable for you.

Hmmm I missed where the OP thought working at home would be easy, but your comments are realistic. Care to share who you have worked with at home since that was the OP's question?

No, I won't post my employer because it's a specialised field that requires schooling and a lot of training. It's not something easy that anyone can do. We're not hiring, as we've got full staff on. I will, however, contact the OP personally.

Aww c'mon can't you give us a general idea without naming names? Enquiring minds are curious. Training is required for many jobs.
