Any Ex-Floridians Living In Madison?
My wife and I just moved to Madison last August from Orlando. I must say it's a very beautiful area that we are enjoying (although she's lived in the midwest before). I always wanted to live where there was a change of seasons and we sure have found it. I can't say it's been too cold yet, but I know colder wind chills are on the way. Obviously getting used to the driving conditions has been the biggest adjustment so far. Just wondered if there were many transplants here from Florida that have been here several years and how they have adjusted to the winter. Merry Christmas to everyone on the board and may 2009 be prosperous for all.

I wonder if you're still here! You won't find the beautiful scenery of flowers and landscaping like you have in Orlando, nor the friendly people.

Still Here !
Made it through the winter. Sure was a long one. Wasn't sure the trees would ever wake up. May's been beautiful though.

Why would you come on a Madison thread to insult the people of Madison? Issues?
Nice

Actually, the people of Wisconsin overall are some of the friendliest, down-to-earth, helpful, real people I've ever met. I lived there for over ten years, and I've lived all over the U.S., too. By far, as a whole, Wisconsin has the kindest-hearted people.

I've been all over Florida many times, and I'm not sure I would say that I had a remarkably friendly overall experience. Not unfriendly either. Just neutral.
I've also found annkathryn's posts, at least on this forum, to generally have a negative or snarky tone (sorry, AK, but look back on your posts), and I'm also not sure the point considering many folks on this forum are just answering people's questions about their town to be helpful to us newcomers, or potential midwestern transplants. I think the "free world" argument fell out of favor around the 5th grade. But you're 'free' to use it of course.

I've found people in Madison to be MUCH friendlier than people in Miami (I lived in Coral Gables and Miami Lakes).
