Default Need Some Information about The Pines- Fitchburg

Hello

We are planning to move to Fitchburg. We were looking to move to apartment complex The Pines. We have a young child and needed some information about the safety of the Pines whether is it safe to live there, is there any sort of vandalism taking place there or robberies etc. some general safety concerns.I heard the city is very nice to live in, if this apartment is not good can someone suggest some other apartment complexes we can look into. My husband will be taking a bus to UW-Madison, is it safe.

Thank You
Angie

Well I hope your husband only has to hop one bus and doesn't have to transfer at the Park St. transfer point, which has been in the news recently as being "unpleasant at best" safety wise.

Thanks for your response. I am not sure about that, I think I better look into that. Does anyone have any idea about the bus routes from high ridge trail and fitch hatchery to UW - madison, about bus routes is there a direct bus.

Not that your dh couldn't handle it Angie, but if it were *me* I would avoid transfering there at all costs...jmo.

Someone here posted a site that can give you specific crime info on any given address in the city. Anyone remember what that was? I would get the address for the Pines and put it in. It was a really cool site in that it listed crimes by type, date and did so within a given radius of the address provided. All that said I don't think The Pines is in a red hot area. What is your price range?

Angie01,

I used to live at the Landmark at Hatchery Hill apartments. It's a great location, about a 2 minute walk to a strip mall that has everything. A two bedroom will run you about $1,100 and there is a park right across the street, felt really sage there. The bus does go to UW but you will transfer at the south transfer point. Believe me the transfer point is not that bad, my brother transfers at it and he has never had any issues.

I put in the Pines address and it didn't show much, but now I know where it is. It used to be Ridgewood. NOT a good area. I had a friend who lived in the part by Post Road and it was pretty slummy. Kids were running wild and unsupervised in the halls and there was tons of junk in the halls.

Ridgewood "might" have been the one that was owned by a slumlord. They had alot of maintenance issues and it was covered in the news several times. If I am thinking of the the correct place, new management came in and I *think* things may have improved.
