Buying in Madison...property tax info?
Does anyone know the all-inclusive overall tax % rate in Madison AND also for Monona, Fitchburg, Verona, and Middleton?
Also, are there any homeowner's exemptions on property taxes there? A lot of states will take the first $50k or so of the house's value and not count it when calculating property tax for a primary residence.
We're looking to buy in the $200-250k range, we don't have a specific address to look up yet (so the city/county assessor hasn't been much help).
It is looking like Madison is about 2% property tax according to the zillow last year's taxes...or $5000 for $250k house. Anyone know if this would include school district taxes, county, and municipality taxes?
We have one month to find a house to buy...and I'd like to be in downtown, but if the taxes are that much different, the hubby would prefer to be outside of town. Help me win this debate plz ;-p
