if you don't do much traveling there's a service called cricket which is pretty cheap that serves the area too with no contracts Cricket | Cell Phone Provider & Wireless Carrier | Official Site

can't vouch for it's value or not but it's another one that's out there.

einstein used to be OK too. I had it a long time ago when phones were first switching to digital. Airadigm Communications / Einstein Wireless > Coverage Maps

If you're already on T-Mobile, the default roaming coverage is "Einstein PCS". Voice service is pretty good, but data is spotty and slow.

Apparently T-Mobile is getting ready to put up their own antennas and launch 3G coverage for Madison, but so far no solid information on how soon that might be.

Guys- Ive noticed in the last week or so that Im actually picking up T-Mobile and not defaulting to Einstein. So- guess they are finally up and running here!

Im on the near east side, but it picked up by campus too (not sure exactly how far antennas tend to cover)

Ive been to WI a couple of times and my T Mobile worked pretty good in Madison, Stoughton, and some surrounding areas, including Albany and Janesville. However, it was kind of spotty in Evansville and a few surrounding areas. I heard that they upgraded (or are going to) upgrade in some of those areas.
