Need help! about parking in Madison (Gilman: home, safety, car)

I'm going stay with my friend in Madison for 2 weeks this month. I'm trying to find where I can park my car around Gilman St., Madison. I don't mind if I really have to pay for parking (if it's not too expensive). I kinda worry about safety (my car is quite new). Any suggestion would be appreciated

Not sure what your idea of "expensive" is, but you might try some of the downtown ramps. I think they have a daily rate of $5 maximum.

The bummer of using the ramps is that the $5 max is just for over night between specific hours. I'm assuming you pay the hourly rate for the time you spent in the ramp outside those hours. It was a little complicated so I just included the link.

This is just a shot in the dark, but do you or someone your traveling with have a valid disability?? If so, you would probably have a handicapped placard, in which case parking is free in ANY meter with at least a 30 minute or more limit (meaning the 15 minute limit ones are off bounds). Just a shot in the dark, figured it MAY apply!!
