Default Sun Prairie?

I'm thinking about moving east of Madison. Can be within 30 miles or so. How about Sun Prairie. I am in my late 40's and getting divorced with a seven year old daughter. I will be investing in residential real estate. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

If you just need a bedroom community with decent schools to raise your family in peace, Sun Prairie fits the bill. If you're looking for a fun, unique or particularly charming town, it may fall short. Not a lot going on there.

Sun Prairie seems like a nice community (I've never lived there) and has been growing by leaps and bounds. As far as charm goes, I think their downtown has more charm than say Waunakee, which is blaa, but on the yuppie radar for sure.

They have a nice aquatic center, many parks, nice healthclub, walmart, several groceries, sweet corn festival, car races.

A word of warning regading RE in Sun Prairie. There was a developer, RE agent there who put up many single family homes, condo's. Guy was a big wig for many years. Some of these homes sat forever and some were never finished with the bad economic hit and so they were auctioned. When we were at the closing table last winter our buyers, agent brought this up as he had been working in Sun Praire, until their office went belly up. He made the comment that this would bring Sun Prairies values down, so just do your research before purchasing.
