Default Moving to Madison......Can you answer these ??'s

Hello all,

My wife is taking a promotion and we will be relocating from Columbus, OH to the lovely Madison, WI. I have a few questions about our move.

Her office is located on Coho St. South of the Beltline W and West of Fish Hatchery Rd. I read that Verona is a nice place. I'm an Operating Engineer, so location isn't that big of a deal for me since I travel no matter where I live. We'd like to be in a quiet, safe, neighborhood. Our budget for buying a house is no more than 250K. She's willing to drive 20-25 minutes to and from work.

We also have two dogs and 2 cats. A decent area to walk the dogs is a plus.

Also, does anyone have any ideas about how much construction is going on in the area? I'm a certified crane operator, but will also run dirt equipment as well. Lot's of orange barrels?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Verona is a nice community, it has a huge dog park. It is also close to your place of work and is safe...and there is housing there in your price range. I don't think there is much construction going on now anywhere really with this bad economy, and what there is is quite limited. Things will start to turn around down the road, but try to find work in other fields for the time before purchasing a 250K home with a sizeable Wisconsin tax bill.

There is ALWAYS construction downtown....ALWAYS. Verona is nice, you might like Mt Horeb too...it's more of a village :-) I'd say anywhere on the SW side of Madison would be a good fit for your family and close to her work!
