I live in northern Maine (Caribou). This area has alot of small towns but Caribou and Presque Isle are only 10 miles apart, and have almost 20,000 people between them. There is high speed internet with several providers.
Are you saying Eastport has cable internet?

I thought it only had DSL.

No wonder so many folks have been flocking to Eastport.

Several ISP's service Eastport. FairPoint and Time Warner among others.

Calais is a nice little city. It's possibly dying a little more than Eastport right now, but it is a pretty location.

Welcome! You may find once you get a little more familiar with the area that some of the outlying areas may have all you're looking for and instead of rent, you could *gasp* have a mortgage for 4-500/month!

Here's another paper:

City of Brewer, Maine

Uncle Henry's is an excellent idea . Most stores everywhere sell copies if you can't find what you're looking for online.

Once you are here, most outlying towns have websites you can google if you decide to move out of the city.

Good luck.

Oops...forgot: here's the bus system in Bangor until you find a vehicle.
