I am seeking to buy / or take off someone's hands about 2 buckets of

metal shavings of aluminum or titanium.

Does anyone have any ideas where I can locate this ?

I'm in the Dexter area but travel to Bangor and Waterville too.

Does anyone know any machinist who have this ?

Thanks for any info you have.

Maybe "Google"? Search terms: "Dexter Maine Machine Shop" There definitely are machine shops in your area.

Sorry for being nosy, but why titanium shavings? When I worked at a boatyard in MA, we referred to titanium as "unobtanium"; it was pricey then, in 1987.

Default metal

Hi:

It doesn't have to be titanium, but it is just another option...prefer AL.

Just doing a project for fun.

Oh goodness, let me guess. a "tower buster" or "orgonite". Might be fun to play around with/build, but don't expect them to really work.

These shavings also burn at a very high temperatrure making them suitable for use in rocket engines. Aluminum powder is a primary ingredient in the solid rocket boosters for the space shuttle and many other solid rocket motors. The BATFE may wonder what you plan to do with the aluminum shavings too.

I was thinking the same thing.....the first thing I thought of was thermite. Maybe that what he is thinking too and making it sound like he wanted to make these tower buster thingies....from what I read (its was good for a laugh anyway), you can make a whole bunch of these paper-weights with a couple of buckets of Al shavings...
