Default Best bed & breakfast inns along the Maine coast

can anyone recommend a B&B along the coast (preferably the mid-maine area) that serves really good breakfast? or at least a restaurant in that general vicinity that is worth a special trip for breakfast/brunch?

Just ate at the Sugar House Cafe in Rockland this past weekend....great breakfast. Check out the Lime Rock Inn. In Camden Boynton-McKay is a popular breakfast place and there are several B&Bs there.

In Rockland I have stayed at the Berry Manor Inn a number of times while house hunting. Very highly recommended.

A little further south, is the Newcastle Inn (in Newcastle), owned by my friend Julie. Although I have never stayed there, it receives excellent reviews from tripadvisor. And there are lots of great restaurants in nearby Damariscotta and also the Publik House, which is very close to the inn.

There is a place just outside of Camden going north on the left, that has a restaurant called Vincents that has a great reputation. I believe it is called that because of Edna St. Vincent Milay. The Inn has a different name but the restaurant is called Vincents.

I second Boynton-McKay in Camden. The buttermilk pancakes were recently voted best in Maine.

I'll put in a second plug for the LimeRock Inn in Rockland; full disclousre, I know the owners, but a quick google search will show you glowing reviews. It's one of the four "Historic Inns of Rockland", that do a lot of events, etc. together.

thanks - is the B&B called the whitehall inn by any chance? because when i googled vincent's, that's what came up.

from what i can tell, it appears that the whitehall inn allows both guests and non-guests to eat at vincent's - is this correct?

This is up from the mid-coast, but if you want a killer 5 star breakfast, you should stay a night in the Kilby House B & B down in Eastport. Greg is worth the trip. It's off the beaten path, but well worth the drive, although US 1 in places is not so hot.

His breakfasts are legendary, even with the locals....they will ask you....how was breakfast! I can tell you....fantastic.....just wish it was in the mid-coast for you.
