Default If you don't have plans this Sunday and want to experience coastal Maine in it's glory...

(July 15) Consider coming to Stonington for the BOAT RACES!

I'm so excited- it's like Christmas in July...

(Drag racing lobster boats.. Just another freaky reason I am proud to be a Mainah!)

I spent a glorious vacation on a small island in the bay of Portland one time...we had to take a ferry out, there were few cars and ONE restuarant.

There was nothing to do other then go to the little beach...I loved it.

We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast, I brought along some books, some needlework, I sat out on the deck, looking out over the water...it was wonderful and very peaceful.

The fact that you couldn't drive out to the island on a bridge kept it quiet at the time.

That always looks like a blast. In reading Maine Lobsterboats by Virginia Thorndike. These guys are serious about the races and some put in $30k plus custom-built engines in these boats. My dream is to own a lobsterboat someday. Customized for cruising and fishing. Sturdy with great deck space for sitting around for a cruise. Need a spray rail, standing shelter and a head. Great Boats, downeast style.

Waaaa!!! I wanna be back in Maine, NOW!!! I can't believe we are stuck out here in no-mans land for another summer. You can bank your last dollar that we will be back in time for next summer and that we won't miss one single event at the coast, no matter how far we have to drive to get to it.

Lobster boat racing....I love it!!
