I thought I was told (from a former border guard) that you cannot apply to work at a certain station - that if you become a border guard, you will be re-assigned (to a less desirable place as far as border agent work is concerned).

that is true, but if you're from a particular area, chances are good you will be hired in that region....we have a number of locals that began working Homeland Security this way....one is currently in Houlton until the bridge is complete... Then as far as I know, the choice is up to the individual whether to leave or not....we don't have a lot of turn-over here for the number of personnel--we have 2 bridges currently, and Calais is the 6th busiest border crossing nationwide.

Ha...Ohio is 2nd on the list. Does this surprise me? Not at all. Maine no where to be found. That's what I'm talking about.

To get back to the original question in this thread, I met a computer geek this week who is looking for a job. My best description of him would be an Irish Rastafarian with a nervous twitch. 399083453, Would that be you?

moughie -

An Irish Rastafarian would be a fairly eccentric fellow indeed.

Thankfully I am not the least bit eccentric.

I could see: genius, gifted, or creative; but never eccentric.

Now where is my tin-hat?
