OUCH! I can imagine this accident as we were involved in something that might easily have been similar, in rural CO many years ago. Some folks had staked a horse alongside the road to eat the grass (dumb people, poor horse... they did not check on it and apparently it tipped over its water bucket and by evening, when we went by, it was crazy with thirst, and pulled its tether loose from the ground, running immediately in front of our car as we passed.
We had JUST passed a couple on a motorcycle, heading the other direction, just seconds before... and were thankful that the horse waited those few seconds, as it doubtless spared a couple of lives. WE were uninjured, though the horse spun around and stove in the passenger door of our car, which had the window rolled partly down. Glass spewed all over me and the baby, in our clothes, etc... but as soon as we were out of the car I stripped the little one and shook her diaper out, etc and shook out my own clothes as well.
After a little prying on the sheet metal, the car was able to go under its own power, but the horse died.
The horse owners were threatening lawsuit, until the law slapped them with a fine for animal cruelty, as the investigation revealed the horse had been there all day and that the bucket was not only tipped over, but dry.
When I get to Maine, I'll be on the lookout for moose..

Hunting season seems to be getting off to an early start this year.
What a mental picture this conjures up. Thanks, for the best laugh I've had all day - sorry but this is hilarious.
Seriously though, I'm glad no people were seriously hurt.
BTW, do you think she got to keep the deer?

A freind of mine hit a horse on the highway at 80 mph in North Dakota. It went through the passenger side of the car-from windshield to rear window-and took the roof completely off on it's way through.

I have not hit any moose yet, though we do see them at least weekly alongside the roads. Just walking along and eating.

Thats too bad for the deer. If humans didnt intrude on there land and squeeze animals into near extinction. There wouldnt be such missfortunes. Maybe one day the animals will get there land back and be safe.
