I LOVED "In the Bedroom" with Sissy Spacek! I'm such a Maine fanatic, that I'll watch anything that was filmed in Maine. Of course, sometimes it's filmed elsewhere, even though it's set in Maine. For example, I was so disappointed when I watched "Dolores Claiborne", only to find out it was filmed in Nova Scotia (I believe).

SPITFIRE GRILL is a decent movie. It's set somewhere around Bethel, I believe, but it was actually filmed in Vermont. I don't know why.

EMPIRE FALLS with Paul Newman and Ed Harris is a great movie, too. I think it was filmed round Waterville and a few other places.

I'm not sure why that was. Isn't the island the story takes place in actually fictional though. Little Tall or something like that? I've never read the book, and I haven't seen the movie in years.

Another movie with spectacular Maine scenery is Finding Home. A bit mushy and weepy-but that can be good as well at times.
