Also there are flights directly to and from Bangor's airport in Atlanta and Cincinnati. These are non stop direct flights on Delta's carrier. No prop planes but actual jet engines. These were my two connections two weeks ago and last year flying into and out of Bangor. Nice info from Acadianion on the other airports. It was enlightening to our family..... I love this board as it is a wealth of information to all.

I can't wait to be back in Maine in a couple weeks even though it will be a short lived stay for now. Will give me a chance to stock up on more Blueberry coffee.... that stuff is awesome.

Well, we ex-Air Force types need to stick together. As it is, there are an awful lot of ex-navy and ex-coastie pukes around this state! (LOL)

Default Addendum to AcadianLion's post

You are correct regarding Owls' Head (actually it's Knox County Regional Airport). They do have commuter air flights in and out. Presque Isle does also, and certainly has an ILS on runway 01, as I've flown into it in my plane.
And these days, virtually every airport in the country has a GPS approach, which when using a WAAS enabled GPS, is absolutely rock solid.
The other posters comments regarding price into Bangor, vs. Presque Isle, is well taken though.
But if price is no object, there's always charter, to nearly every airport in the state.

Thanks all, for you generous outpouring of info about the area, from the possibility of moose strikes at night, to the info about flying into the area, as well as any other information that has been shared. A great website, to be sure!

Best regards to all!

The airport info is right, and space A only flies into bangor from Germany last I checked, and even then, they are now sending most of the flights past bangor. My father is ex airforce, heck almost all my family still up there is. I didn't catch what your moving up to the cold north, but a hint for you, if your looking for a job, the old Loring AFB is now a DFAS, and loves to hire ex military types. Enjoy the county!

Default Airlines into the Houlton/Littleton

Oops...

Did you say something about moving up to a cold weather area???

That did it for me!

No, not looking for a job. Retired, tired of putting up with the craziness
of city life, and want some elbow room, so to speak, and want a small rural fixer upper to keep my skills honed.

Thanks for your response, this is a great forum!

That would have been good to know, should have got on here sooner, ex-Army here...I don't know much about accounting, but I'm sure they must use computers and I can fix those and maintain a network.

Re: Blueberry coffee- GAG! I like blueberries (in spite of being more than passing familiar with a blueberry rake) and I like coffee but not the one in the other.

Re: J-O-B - Not that I really want one of those again, but I will probably need one for a while, at least until I can get established in some sort of business of my own, does any one have any hints for where to go for computer or other tech-type jobs around Bangor?

I'm not completely stupid and I can do (or learn to do) just about anything I put my mind to but it might be nice to start off with something I know.

I'm also more than passing familiar with private protection services- PI, bodyguard, high-risk courier, running a security company.
