We leave for Eastport in 31 hours.. can't believe that I'm finally going to get my Christmas gift. Reminder there is still time to chime in for lunch and/or whale watching.

Ok.. give me a ring.. I'll just be in the car running lines for the play..

Is there any doubt why I love this gang so much?

I won't be on when we're gone(unless I pop into the library) everyone have a great few weeks and be prepared to be barraged with my endless drivel of all things Maine(the vacation version).

Take care, goodnight and have a pleasant tomorrow!

I think we must have had a very light frost here in Gorham.....I noticed my tomato vines were blackened and dead yesterday.....the eggplant and summer squash vines up nearer the house werent touched.....but had stopped producing.....I just tossed lots of little cherry tomatoes and little squash and eggplant into a "chicken through the garden soup pot".

Has anyone else had frost?

None here yet in Freeport. We came close last week but it was just a heavy dew. I keep hoping we'll get a good one to kill off the lawn so I can stop mowing.....this year I have mowed twice a week since the first week of May (when it was dry enough) and still have not stopped yet! Usually it slows to once a week but not this year! Way too much rain.

We just switched from once a week to every other week. It has noticable slowed down this month. Maineah....do you fertilize in the fall....if so....when and what?

I wish mine would slow down! I don't fertilze at all elston. (unless the dog counts) My brother says he can't believe it as it looks like a golf course around here but I have never fertilized the lawn. It probably self fertilizes from the clippings it gets twice a week??

Do your tomato plants look like these plants (http://www.hort.cornell.edu/department/Facilities/lihrec/vegpath/photos/lateblight_tomato.htm - broken link)? I think it sounds more like late blight than frost. If you decide it is late blight or want to be on the safe side the plants should be pulled and thrown away in plastic trash bags. I lost $10,000 to this disease this year.

I don't know what happened to mine. They all suddenly started to die and rot after all the rain stopped. Probably blight, MW? I grabbed all I could and made chowchow. I still have a big colander full that I figured I might fry up for supper one night, but hubby is working evenings all week. Anybody know if green tomatoes can be frozen? I'm sick of canning and my kitchen still reeks of vinegar.
