There are over 5,000 homes without power in Penobscot County. That number will increase because of this gale. At least it isn't 20 below.

We had some pretty good winds, only lost cable, power was fine. But the withdrawals were killing me

Lost power about 11am yesterday, got it back at 3pm today.

This is twice in two weeks.

We rarely lose power here. We don't have a larger company though, and I think they're better able to perform routine maintenance and prevent some of the causes of outages.

We lost power for a few hours last Friday. A tree came down in the high winds - it fell across the road....it wasn't even on the same side of the road as the lines, but managed to snag a few of the top, high voltage wires on the way down anyhow. The wires held the tree off the ground, but still managed to get shorted out I guess. Maine Public Service had it cut up and the breaker/fuse replaced pretty fast.

Testimonial:
Eastern Maine Electric has the best service and lowest rates of any utility in the state. They are a coop. At the ned of the year you get a rebate based on the amount of power you use. They are quite active in trimming trees that could cause power outages. Great company.
