In Miami right now, I can walk in to a store with a $20 bill. I can get a 20 oz. Diet Coke, a cuban sandwich, (equivalent to the deli sandwich), and a pack of smokes and have $10 left over.
But anyway, yes, little things like this, grocery items, day to day stuff....I'd love to know the differences because it helps me get a good idea of what to expect. So far I think it's going to be much easier in Maine, financial wise.

Right on GatorMama! This also interest me a lot.
With $20 bucks here in LA I get a salad (no carbs, Oh Good Lord, NO carbs!) at "Tender Greens" at lunch time.

Smokes here will take the better part of a tenner. $7 and change a pack I think. I'd love a Cuban. I miss Hemingway's in downtown Marrietta! But not bad enuff to go back down there.

The flour I buy to bake with in Seattle is $5.99, King Arthur flour, in Maine I saw it for less than 3 bucks in the two groceries I was in. Milk...I couldn't compare brands but it was easily half the price in Maine. My Mother lives in Missouri..when I go to visit her in fall..Rainier cherries (they are grown here in Washington..named after Mt. Rainier) are much cheaper to buy in Missouri than in the shadow of Mt. Rainier....even at the farmers markets. I don't get it at all.

It's like oranges here. When I wanted oranges in Seattle, I'd spend about $2. Here, in Miami, in the state that grows the dang things, it's almost $7 for the same size bag.
WHA...???
As for smokes...I guess there's always online shopping to keep the costs down. Course, depends on brand, too. The brand I get is typically cheaper than, say, Cowboy Killers.
