Just wondering if anyone has ever move away to the south then moved back and if you had regrets? I still have another year before I can make a move.
We moved to Raleigh area for better weather and the ability to buy a house.
My husband seems to like it here. I don't. Its too crowded, too hot, too much crime and I miss my son (he is 20) and my sister and her kids and my MIL. Now my MIL is saying after this winter she is going to sell the house she said we could buy from her next year and move someplace warmer. She has said this in the past and it never happened. She HATES hot weather.
Is the job market non existent there? My husband drives a CDL truck. I do office work and/or hair.
Deep down I want to move back but worry that he will be miserable or the first winter there I will be miserable.

I moved back to Maine after spending most of the 1970s in the Midwest. My wife and I took a 30 percent cut in pay to make the move. We never regretted it.

I moved many yrs. ago. Ended up being raised in the south. Not my choice. I'll get back to Maine, although it'll be a while down the road. Maine has always had my heart.

I moved to Md in the early 90's to start a company with my brother. When MD changed the laws and made owning many firearms illegal and removed the right of citizens to carry I came back to the free state of Maine.

Joined the military in the 70s so had to leave. Buggers (would rather use a stronger word) woouldn't send me to Loring. Moved back in late 90's. 2002 moved to Atlanta. After 2 years there I slapped myself in the head and moved back home with DW. I tell her I have one move left in me now. One box, six of my friends, and a car ride up the hill.

I'm moving one more time too. If it is in a box it'll be back to Southport, Maine.

We're not from Maine, but moved here 2 years ago from the Raleigh area. We love it here! Originally being from the midwest, we're used to winter weather. We lived in NC for 3 years and couldn't handle the heat and humidity. I'll take a long, cold winter over NC summers any day. Maine is home, and we'll never leave!

I just came back after 20+ years in northern California and 3 long months in swampy Florida.....been trying to get a year round camp liveable....been looking a bit for work, but here central Maine it's pretty slow. I am a machinist/tool&die maker and also CDL(just don't want to go OTR.) I am sure I will miss California but this summer and fall should be great here!
Good luck with your decision.....it ook my a bit to figure out what MIL was...LOL

Default Florida to maine

I moved from Florida to Maine when I was in 5th grade. We stayed one winter and my mom couldn't take it and we moved to Arizona. Now that I am older I can't wait to move back and raise a family there.
