Default Best Local Food

A couple of my favorite places in the Bangor area are "Oriental Jade" buffet, (I had a lot of lunches there with a great friend), and "Pat's Pizza" in Orono (friendly staff, awesome pepperoni pizza). What are some of your favorite places in Maine? Best Pizza, Burgers, Seafood, Italian, Diner, Dive, or hole in the wall?

Pat's has its pepperoni made specially for them. I went to high school in Orono and ate a lot of pizza in those days.

I like the Chowder House in Eastport, Redclyffe in Robbinston and Bernadini's in Calais.

Susan's on Forest Ave in Portland has a GREAT haddock sandwich ! The place is NOT the greatest for ambiance ( it is an old garage converted into a diner) but you can't beat her food for the price.

msina-

While we now live in the area, I was career military, so sadly I am not from here. However we have lived in many different areas.

We have eaten at the "Oriental Jade" buffet in Bangor, it is okay. We have had much better Oriental food.

I do wish that this area had a decent Italian restaurant and a good Mexican restaurant.

"O.J.'s" isn't the best oriental food I've ever had, it was more the company. It was a favorite place to stop with a good friend for lunch when shopping in Bangor.

ditto!! and I'll add the New Friendly Restaurant in Perry...try the crab stew or lobster roll...yum

Maine Writer, we don't have the mall but don't we have great food?!

oh, and what's that restaurant in Jonesboro? oh, The White House---they make all their own rolls and desserts. The lemon merinque (how do you spell that??) pie is out of this world.
Also, Ruth and Wimpy's (kids call it Ren and Stimpy's) just outside of Ellsworth, on Route 1 heading toward Hancock, hmm, maybe it's actually in Hancock. The waitresses are a hoot, homemade onion rings, and the food is outstanding with reasonable prices. Interesting, conversation provoking decor too!

We certainly do. And what would we do with a mall? Gees, we'd lose blueberry barrens if we did that. Mall food is usually chain store food. I am a food snob of sorts. I want real food, cooked from scratch and grown locally when possible.
