There is a ton of stuff to see at Acadia-especially in some of the lesser traveled areas-just talk to the Rangers and they'll show you where to go. There is a great hike that starts at Jordan Pond and heads up Seargent Mountain-about three quarters of the way up there is a small pond-Seargent Mountain pond, one of the few in the park where swimming is allowed (the rest are either reservoirs or there must be a lifeguard present). My wife and I got to swim with our chocolate lab and had lunch for about two hours up there and then continued up to the summit. Going up to the top of Cadillac around midnight is great for star gazing. If you're into beer, Bar Harbor Brewing Company is nearby-they have a nice little tour and a great tasting session.

Tell us what you usually do/what you have already done when you go to Bar Harbor and Acadia on the 4th so we'll have a better idea of how to respond. Also, are you only going to be there for one day?

If Acadia and Jordan are it then, yes you are missing some, IMO. Try across the Frenchman's Bay to Schoodic Point. Downtown Ellsworth, Big Chicken Barn in Orland, even Bar Harbor (although I dislike the crowds). Hit the back roads for some nice scenery. Just so long as you have a good time.

Good to know! Thanks for sharing that info! I drove right on past Jordan Pond my first time up the mountain...I will not do that again.

Thanks for the replies. Keep them coming!!! I do alot of hiking, However, I can not remember the trails. I been to Acadia MANY times, so I will skip that for this year. Heading up July 2nd. until July 5th, then heading down to Freeport/Boothbay for 5th, 6th, leaving on the 7th.

Every year we have outside dinner at the Bar Harbor Inn (lawn) and watch the fireworks while having desert.
