There is no 'best' community.

Do you want neighbors a mile part? or two miles apart?

Do you want to live near a Walmart? or on a lake?

Everyone is different. Everyone wants something that is slightly different from what others want. There may be what is 'best' for you, but it will not be best for someone else.

I like living in a forest on the bank of a river. Other posters here clearly think I have lost my mind, as they do not want rural at all. That is okay, everyone is different.

The only way to tell is for you to move to Lincoln, rent an apartment, live there 6 months, and while your there tour the area in a 100 mile radius. Meet the locals, see the sites and see for yourself where the 'best' for you is.

We have a few posters here who live near Lincoln. I am not far from Lincoln myself. Far as I know they are all pretty nice people.

The best schools are in Lee.
Lee has 10 lakes. Lincoln has 13.
Howland, Enfield and Chester all have the Penobscot River.
I think Lincoln is the only town with a bar. The Blue Moon recently closed in Lincoln.
Lincoln recently opened a pawn shop though. It is the first one in over 100 years. They didn't even have one during the Depression.

The low cost homes sell quickly, but it does happen. A four bedroom home with 2 car garage sold in Lee in February for $33,000. It had 1.6 acres and was right next to Lee Academy. A home overlooking Silver Lake in Lee sold for $20,000. These are sales, not currently available, but both had 3 BR or more and sold this year.

There are limited college courses available in Lincoln.

We have several new residents from Europe.
