Fisher cat?
Last week our Great Pyranees mix puppy was playing in the snow with a carcass that looked like one of those critters.
It had not froze and was still warm when I saw it, our puppy had been throwing it and playing catch out in the snow with herself using this recently dead critter's carcass.
It was not too big, maybe four pounds. I really do not know what it was, but it kind of looked like one of those 'cat's.

At 4 pounds I would suspect a Pine Martin, they are related to the Fisher's and look like a mini-version of one. The Fisher's I have seen are quite large, and have some impressive teeth to them. Larger head, and fast as a weasel. Here is a shot of their teeth. Kind of makes you a bit nervous when they are following you to tell the truth.

A full grown fisher can bring down a deer. Nasty things, I wouldn't want to mess with one.

Second that! Ever hear one of them "scream" that will send an icy shiver through you.

Here is a fairly good photo of a Pine Marten:
They are a lot smaller than a Fisher and the ears are a bit different shaped. Hard to tell the difference between a young Fisher and a Pine Marten.

What wonderful pictures. 7th, I love the snow pictures. Views like that just take my breath away. Scott, great pictures and I have only seen the fisher dead and never even heard much about a pine martin. Great info.
