Flooding in Ellsworth
We were cut off from Ellsworth briefly Saturday as 179/180 gave way to the storm. Two alternate routes - one 65 miles round trip, the other 80 made it easy to stay home and put our feet up. More pictures and info about flooding in Hancock County at fenceviewer; it's ok to peek

Limbing trees using Climbing tree stand
needed to prune some trees so the smaller oak could grow, and my son wanted to try his new climbing stand.
Safety glasses, harness and my saw-zall with a pruning blade worked great
Cleared about 40' up

Yep sure is.
I believe the Northern Flicker is the only woodpecker to feed exclusively on the ground.
Here is a neat reference site for birds of Maine.
