The migratory honeybees that pollinate the blueberries have arrived in the Union area - actually several days ago. Most of the hives have been moved into the fields; the blueberries are just beginning to bloom.

really? where do the bees come from? Where do they go when done pollinating? Are there no bees in Maine?

I'm not sure where these bees came from or where they go from here. Florida-Georgia-New Jersey-Maine??? There are wild honeybees in Maine, though commercial crop growers depend on commercial beekeepers to bring in hives to ensure timely, adequate pollination. Here's a link to a "fact sheet" on pollination.

no black flies or mosquitos
spent most of the day cleaning yard and planting

Nice, ribbets! I love the one of you digging for the three yellow ones...they are waiting for you to unearth some important - hopefully, edible - treasure! The shrubs & young apple in bloom are nice, too!
