Lousy quality, sorry. I picked out a small part of the whole picture to get at least something. I need to figure out what I did to my camera, undo it and go back another morning and try this again. This is one of two bald eagles I saw this morning. They're a pair that sit in a large maple tree on the Indian Township side of the IT/Princeton bridge. This morning they trees were covered with hoar frost that sparkled under the sun. I watched one eagle (was to the left and a branch or two lower) preen while this one watched me and the water.

Beautiful pic. I have no idea what a "hoar frost" is, though it would get quite a few colorful explanations down here, I'm sure! And just the idea that you folks get to see live bald eagles in the wild blows me away every time! Here - only in the Houston zoo that I know of!

Hoar frost is ice crystals that build up on frozen objects. The air has to be saturated or there has to be a water vapor source for it to happen. It's beautiful!

We get this a lot along the river....yesterday morning on the way out to the high school to it was beautiful! The sunlight coming up and all the trees covered---OMG!! And then to come around the corner and down the hill from the school, well, it was one of those days when you think "it's too bad not every high school has this view!"

You have very nice wildlife photos Writer- pretty!
This time of year, after the river freezes ,we lose our eagles. They tend to follow the river toward the ocean, locating open water where they can find a source of food.

If this works. This is my crazy husband on the Jet ski on Nov. 1st. Yes it was cold. Now there is ice where that photo was taken.

And replace WHS's smoke stacks from the mill? Sounds like a good idea to me.

Thanks. I entered the contest in the Photography forum. I wanted to use an eagle picture but that was a disappointment. The water is usually open here but it's been so cold that it's closing. I think they'll leave soon.
