Greetings,

Hello. First, I'm trying to assess the quality of life in Sanford, Maine. Likewise, I'm trying to compare it to Rutland in Vermont and Warwick in Rhode Island. Granted, I do understand this is an Apples versus Oranges type question. Any feedback would be great. Thanks

Why would it be 'bad'?

I am not familiar with Sanford, Rutland, nor Warwick. However I am not sure why any of them would be automatically 'bad'.

Quality of life anywhere is what you make of it; not the other way around. Try visiting and roaming around Sanford a while. See if you like it.

You need to give us something to work with. What is your definition of quality? Nearby stores is quality to some, dreadful to others.

If you look for or expect bad you will find it even where it does not exist.

Sanford is nice [ I grew up in North Berwick, next to Sanford] There are some area that is a little tough but the most is nice rural town/city folk. There is a good Police Dept and a very good Fire Dept [I know a lot of the firefighters and the Chief personally] You have many small stores and some larger one [Walmart and a Shaws supermarket]. There is also Springvale which is part of Sanford.

Nice thing about Sanford there are so many small towns nearby you can live in a small town and travel to Sanford to work, shop, play, or whatever. Sanford ALSO has a small airport. You really do need to cruise around the area to really understand it. Good Luck

Sanford is known for being a hole, and I am being fair in saying that, perhaps in the vein of other towns such as Biddeford and Lewiston. I would choose elsewhere in pondering a place to live.

I am not familiar with Sanford. However, I am going to assume the OP is wondering about the crime, gangs and drugs that are massive in the other two cities.

Unfortunatly crime, gangs, and drugs are everywhere [Even in small towns]. Sections of Sanford is in worse shape then others [check with the Police and they can tell you where it's located].

And diablogun doesn't have a clue.

Gee, I think it is possible that a town could have some bad areas and some good areas. My parents live in Lewiston, and they have never had to deal with crime or scary stuff.
