Lived in Oquossoc for many years, growing up there and going to school. If you are not a nature outdoor lover, then yes there is very little to do. I was never bored growing up there and relish all the memories I had there. Anyone still around from the graduating class of 1964?

So far the list is like this:
Fishing;
Hiking;
swimming;
boating;
ATVing, biking, sledding,
hunting;
Ski;
wildlife photography;
Rockhounding and geocaching;
Drinking;
Book reading;
and for real excitement you could try bear-tipping or moose-slapping.

And snipe hunting. Everyone should try it at least once.

I agree - if nightlife is the most important factor in where you vacation - Rangeley is NOT for you. Now if you make friends and gather in the evening that might be rewarding.

Last time I was up there was in the fall, we also stayed at the Rangely Inn. There is a fun bar downtown, don't remember the name, it is on the lake side of Main St. I remember they were closing for the season the next day. I think as Saddleback continues to grow there will be more skiers along with the many bilers that already go up to Rangely in the winter. I bet there is live entertainment during the winter also up at the ski resort. For nightlife, what more do you need?
