I'm coming to Maine with my dog next week. Need a pet-friendly place to stay (motel or B&B) that is very clean (my dog is!) and nice. Suggestions?

Thanks

Don't laugh - with the exception of a disasterous experience in VT I have always stayed at Motel 6 with my dogs. They have generally been clean, adequate to my needs and pet friendly. Not sure if there is one in that general area.

PS: what breed is your dog?

I have always used this site and have had good luck traveling with my big dogs:
DogFriendly.com® - Pet Travel Guides and City Guides for Dog/Pet Owners
When i doubt I've went for a Holiday inn...most of them accept dogs with out an additional fee.
I've not stayed in any of the hotels listed for Bangor...but the best western white house looks nice enough when I've driven past. The comfort inn listed is conveniently by the mall area and again looks nice enough.

The Ramada Inn has kennel facilities. They are located on High Street in Ellsworth.

I always used to stay at the Best Western White House Inn by Dysarts when I was living out of state. It's very pet friendly and within walking distance to a great restaurant. It is about 15 minutes south of Bangor.

ALL Day's Inns are pet friendly. Found this out many years ago from a manager at one she told me THIS was nationwide policy.

She is a Kai Ken, one of the cleanest breeds (and this breed generally doesn't bark, unfortunately). I just got back from Maine and wound up staying at a place in Rockland. Will check out Motel 6, thanks. My dog is wary of any place with bedbugs, so I hope it's clean!

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. Maine sure is a dog friendly place!
