ok, the ugly: the mall area! BUT, thankfully, it's tucked to one side of the city!

I LOVE the Bangor area. We lived there up until 7 years ago when I inherited a house and decided to move closer to family. I enjoyed the activities for kids, the theater, the Opera house, the variety of restaurants, the PEOPLE...take your time and look around. It's a great little city with some wonderful neighborhoods and that hometown feel. If you have time, take a look through some of the older threads....Bangor is mentioned many times

Good luck with your interview!

Bangor is ok.

My wife works they-ah. We tend to shop they-ah too.

It is ok for a city, but you can't get they-ah from here-ah.

I love Bangor too. We lived just outside of Bangor in Holden, from 1976 until 1988. I'd go back there in a heartbeat if not the fact we are moving south to warmer winter.
Bangor has an awesome public library!

Bang-goh win-tahs?

I do not know. I have only lived in Maine through two winters, and these past two winters have seemed to be very mild.

Bangor winters aren't as harsh as winters further north. The road crews do a good job of clearing the snow quickly. Pay attention to the parking ban. When they city says don't park on the road they mean it. You'll be towed so the plow can do its job.

Downtown Bangor has beautiful architecture and good food. Bangor has public transportation. There are several larger groceries to shop and a pretty good health food/supply store. There's never a lack of things to do.

Here we go again.
The poster asked about Bangor, not Caribou.
If you hate Caribou and Maine so darned much, then move. I hear Canada is nice!
