The ones that you have to take a boat to get to. Around MDI, you have the Cranberry Islands, Swan's Island, Frenchboro Isle D. Haut, Vinal haven/North Haven, and Deer Isle(even though you can get there by bridge, less people find out how to go there). I'd include Baker Island, but only 3 people actully live there in the summer, sometimes 4.

Quite a few CFA's to Vinal and North Havengenerally fly in. At least that's what a friend from there tells me. most people there take the ferry.

most tourists loose interest after ellsworth, a few of the hardier ones will make it as far as machias- anyone past there is passing through or lost

Yeah... but it does limit the vast influx that happens in Acadia National Park. Iremember that the coast highway north of Ellsworth got a lot less on my way to Moncton years ago.

cabot cove and crabapple cove, surprisingly, are quiet- year round

Bar Harbor is a cool, funky place in the summer... but touristy.

Many of the artsy people who had shops there in summer took their businesses to Key West in the winters.

I was in Bar Harbor in winter and it was empty of people, and most things were closed.
