Default Boston Red Sox!?!

This may expose me as the outsider that I am, but can someone please explain to me the fascination that Mainers have for the Red Sox?

I could understand if they were called, maybe the New England Red Sox, but c'mon-Boston is in a completely different state.

I can't help you....must be a regional thing?

All I know is I grew up watching Fisk, Yaz, Jim Rice, Fred Lynne....summers meant hearing that game through the open windows, and once it was too dark to play outside, we came in and watched. They'd break our hearts year after year, but nobody but a real fellow heart-broken fan can put them down to me. I love 'em!

Hubby is an Orioles fan--and has been for a very long time, must have been the colors when he was a little boy---sometimes it's not a good thing considering they're in the same division!

I went to a Sox game in May. It was the first time I'd been bored in years.

Actually, DH would love to be part of a community team. They do that around here anymore. He misses playing. We will do more with the little league when Alexander gets big enough. DH is looking forward to that.

Does anyone know of a men's league in the mid-coast area near Belfast?

I don't know of one specifically, but hubby plays on one here in Calais, so with Belfast being larger and more centrally located I can't imagine they wouldn't have a league . We've sooo got to meet El when you get here---hubby coaches LL too!

The Red Sox are the closest pro team to Maine. We sure as heck aren't going to cheer for the Yankees!!!!
