Congrats, knowing how to burn wood properly is a skill. In time you will understand the benefits of different types of wood and odd quirks of your setup.

To give a head start.

Ash: Best wood to burn green if you have to as it very porous and dries quickly
Yellow Birch: Oil in the bark and flammable nature makes a great wood starter like the commercial fatwood.
Oak: Good long hot fire...but must be dry or you'll soot up your chimney and have a cool house.

Also....clean your chimney a couple times per winter if you can. Results in a good draft and minimal chance of chimney fire (BAD thing to have, don't ask how I know)

New wood stoves also burn very very hot. Most dealers are now recommending that you have a stainless steel insulated chimney pipe installed inside your masonary chimney. Masonry chimneys are supposed to be installed 2 inches away from the house walls, but I've yet to see one installed that way ANYWHERE. These cost about $400-600, and are pretty easy to install, even by yourself. There are plenty of videos online that explain exactly how to do it.

If you have trouble with heights, you can get a chimney cleaner guy to help you with it. Between the two of you, you can have it installed in about 45 minutes.
