Just got back from Bangor and Augusta and truly enjoyed Augusta, the history and especially the reconstruction of the downtown area which will be great when finished, enjoyed the food and people, all in all, a very enjoyable holiday and will return to Augusta.
Will recommend Augusta to all our friends.

We heard 3 or 4 people trash Augusta, and they were from some other state, even the desk clerk at our motel told us a woman started a tirade about what a disgrace Augusta was and on she went until the clerk told her to leave. We loved it, and are coming back for sure.

I took a ride there last year and had a picnic. I hung around the Viet Nam Memorial area mostly. Here's some pictures of that day. I've always liked the Augusta area. Or any capital city I guess. Seeing that I live in another one.

Pretty pictures, RMoore. I've always skipped past Augusta on my north, but your pictures convinced me to take a day trip. The Capitol Building in the 2nd to last shot looks similar to Nashville's Capitol Building in terms of how the buildings are situated.

I was surprised and pleased to see the photo's of the capitol bldg.....it certainly is a beautiful bldg. I have heard so many negative comments....I didnt expect to see such a handsome bldg. Maine can be proud of its capitol.
