I'll check my fluff containers---we have two, open at the same time, because the 14 year old gets peanut butter in there and none of the rest of us like it!! (especially when it tops the cocoa---yuck!)

Oh-oh, looks like I'm going to have to get serious about it then. I started doing it a while ago but put it aside. Time to get going again.

I grew up on fluffernutter sandwiches and was determined my kids enjoy them too!
I used to buy fluff every year and lug it back to Phoenix ( where it is unavailable). After about 2 months in my pantry, ti became dried out and rock solid.

And man...I'd really love a whoopie pie with peanut butter frosting....those are good.
My grandmother used to make buckeyes and needhams every Christmas in Maine and people here have no idea what those are too. Are they standard in Maine or just something my grandmother did?
I made the mistake of telling a friend from a different state (think it was around Texas..not sure) that I got jimmies on my ice cream and he cracked up laughing...I guess jimmies are what they call condoms in his state. I'd just always thought they were the sprinkles you get on your ice cream cone.
And my dad and I both agree (he's a snowbird..lives in Maine half the year and Florida the other half) that Maine has the best hot dogs. Nothing beats a Bowley's hot dog. Do they still have Bowley's hot dogs in Maine?? I think they used to be in the waterville/oakland area...maybe a few other places also.
Oh..and one other thing. In Maine I always ordered hamburg on my pizza. Can't get that here either...they either say they don't have it or end up giving you sausage or seasoned crumbled meatball. How hard is it to through some hamburg on a pizza anyways??
Ok...enough of that from me. I just miss Maine food. Is Big G's sandwich place still around?? I try and make it a habit to stop there (think it's in Winslow) with someone every time I go back to visit...though it's been a few years since I've been to Big G's.

there's a bolley;s famous franks ,,still operating ,,coming out of hallowell,,towards augusta,,(rte 201, i believe, just before "state street")
and thier is one in waterville..
the hamburger on pizza thing is a small pet peeve of mine also,, hamburg pizza is my fav,,but with fresh burger,,not crumbles,,
its easier for a store to source ,,frozen pizza toppings from any vendor,,than it is,,fresh burger,,tho a place that wants to be known for its pizza would buy it fresh from another store,,or grind it themselves

So, who eats squash and how do you like it fixed?
We eat it breaded with cornmeal or flour and fried, sauteed in butter with onions, sqaush casserole with onions, cream cheese and topped with toasted bread crumbs or Ritz crackers and pureed into squash soup. Am I missing anything good, other than actual fresh from the garden squash?

What is buttercup? Is that white squash or acorn? I've never heard of that.

My favorite way to have zucchini is to take SMALL ones, split in half lengthwise and steam just long enough that they begin to relax. then I lay them on a cookie sheet, cut side up, rub them with butter, sprinkle with parmesian cheese and pop them under the broiler until the cheese browns.
I prefer winter squash (butternut and acorn, to be exact) cut in half, seeds scooped, placed upside down on the cookie sheet and baked until soft. then I scoop out the flesh, and mash it with a little butter and salt and enjoy.
simple food ... what I grew up on and what I prefer.
