Aziscohos Lake, ME.
Going camping/fishing this week at Black Bear (never been there before/or for the most part, that far up in ME.). Heard it is very beautiful there, and I hope too enjoy it very much! What are the low temp's up there at this time? I know it's got to be cold there at night but do I need to pack my winter gear or is my army sleeping bag and a warm jacket fine enough (for night time)? The less gear the better for me.
Thnx. for the input.

Weekend weather looks pretty good, overnight lows in the low-mid 40s. I think you'll be fine with a sleeping bag and a good jacket. Bring a hat, too. If temps drop a little more than anticipated, wearing a hat is the best thing you can do to stay warm.

ok....first off, I had to google that! I'm in eastern Maine and had not heard that name before! still can't say it out loud....lol. Now that I see where you're headed though, it would be great if you came back and posted some pics, if you can. It looks beautiful online!
We had friends who were camping earlier this week here in Washington County, and the nights were fine for them. I looked at the weather, and the temps are going to be a bit cooler, but I think you'll be fine going with what Coaster suggests. The hat's a good idea! Have a great time

Hey Molly! It's pronounced "a-ZIZ-ko-haws." (Yeah, I had to have a local tell me how to pronounce it, too!)

You never heard of it?! Either have I! I know It's going to be a comfortable ride for three people in a pick up (towing boat) with a bench seat for about a 3-4 hour ride (NOT look forward to that)! I'll try and post any photo's I get. I'm new on here and have never posted on-line b4., we'll see.
Don't forget the hat!

OOP'S! It's not Black Bear Camp ground.....it's Black Brook Cove Campgorund in Oquossoe, ME. on Aziscohos Lake.

Got there Thurs. and just got back this Sunday. During the day the weather was perfect. The winds picked up big time Fri and Sat nights. But it was still nice out. I did bring the hat but never did need it at all. When the sun went down, the sky was beautiful with the clouds and sky turning red and pink from the sunset. Very quiet during the day and night. No one was there to bother you! Besides our boat (which you needed to get out to Beaver Island/about a 1.5 miles from shore) I saw only two other boats which were a canoe and small fishing boat. During the day we sat up on the rock and enjoyed how peaceful it was out there and then would jump in the lake to cool off (lake temp. water was perfect). If your looking for something to do out there...forget it! This is for someone who wants to just relax and enjoy the surroundings. We did go for a boat ride up the lake which is about 12-14 miles.
Animals? The only creatures we saw were red squirrels, loons, two American Bald Eagles and at night came out, I guess they were minks?
No phone reception at all, even on the shore. So, if your out there and you get hurt you can forget calling 911. Your pretty much f%^&*ed!
My buddy has photo's which I do not....yet. Hope to get a few on here soon.
Got packed Sunday a.m. and left the campground. By the time we got out around Berlin, NH it started to rain and down pour. So, I guess we made it just in time.
Don't know how busy the camp ground is during the summer but around this time it was really quiet.....just the way I like it! Can't wait till next year.

I'm at my camp on the West Grand Chain for another week or two. All of these lakes are interconnected and you can canoe or boat between them.
Bottle
Keg
Duck
Scraggley
Junior
Horseshoe
Norway
Pocumcus (Locally called compass)
West Grand
Junior and West Grand are big and you need to watch the weather if you are in a canoe or small boat.
