the crimes you mention are very serious,,however,,you cant condemn the whole, town region and state,,

you lose credibility with your blanket statements,,and the negative generalizations, about our whole state,
I understand your not wanting me to tell the truth you sell real estate in Maine. I'm sure that doesn't make you bias!!But have you as a real estate agent went back and talked to your customer's after they have lived here for 5 year's?? I doubt it because when the sale is done you have your money. And as far as proving what this state is like I have directed people to badcops.com | Background-Check | unauthorized query | unauthorized query | unauthorized query (http://www.badcops.com - broken link) , Bangor Daily News , Maine Supreme Court Decisions , mainesexoffenders.com , I have not only given my opinion but have guided them where to get informed. And have you heard about gun's disappearing from one of our police stations and nobody knows where they are. When gun's can be stolen from a police station and the police can't find them how safe are we ??

Wow. If I understand lttt correctly, s/he will only be happy in a world where absolutely everyone never does anything wrong. And if someone does do something wrong, that automatically means the place is a cesspit of crime and condemns everyone else to being just as bad. Sorry, I don't live in your lotus land, and I sure hope I'm not nearly that self-righteous.

BTW, that "badcops.com" link only goes to a site-for-sale page, along with all the other links. You trying to sell it or something?

geez Coaster, I hope he's not....I believe LTTT is male, most trolls are.....we're not allowed to be selling here are we?

by the way, LTTT if you mean for your posts to carry any authority, one of the best things you can do is stop the sarcasm. Those little rolling of the eyes icons you use () denote sarcasm, and they are extremely rude. It's difficult to take things seriously when a poser, oops, my bad, I mean POSTER, uses them.

My husband and I are one of many people who have plans to move to Maine. One reason that makes it so easy for this native Flordian to leave FL is the increase in crime here. I have found the website below to be helpful in assessing a city's crime rate. Just about every town from Maine that I enter pales in comparison (the good way) to other cities I am familair with. There is a lot of talk of Caribou - so here's the assessment for this city.
Caribou, ME, violent crime, on a scale from 1 (low crime) to 10, is 2.
Caribou, ME, property crime, on a scale from 1 (low) to 10, is 4.

Let's compare that with the city of "Disney World" - Oralndo:
Orlando, FL, violent crime, on a scale from 1 (low crime) to 10, is 8.
Orlando, FL, property crime, on a scale from 1 (low) to 10, is 8.

Nowhere is perfect - perspective needs to be considered.

FLtoMaine -

Hey Thanks for that site.

"Compared to the rest of the country, Old Town (zip 04468)'s cost of living is 11.99% Lower than the U.S. average."

"There are about 12.8 students per teacher in Old Town (zip 04468)."

"Old Town (zip 04468), ME, violent crime, on a scale from 1 (low crime) to 10, is 1. Violent crime is composed of four offenses: murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. The US average is 3."

"Old Town (zip 04468), ME, property crime, on a scale from 1 (low) to 10, is 3. Property crime includes the offenses of burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. The object of the theft-type offenses is the taking of money or property, but there is no force or threat of force against the victims. The US average is 3."

"Air quality in Old Town (zip 04468), ME is 29 on a scale to 100 (higher is better). This is based on ozone alert days and number of pollutants in the air, as reported by the EPA."

"Superfund index is 10 on a scale to 100 (higher is better). This is upon the number and impact of EPA Superfund pollution sites in the county, including spending on the cleanup efforts."

"Our cost of living indices are based on a US average of 100. An amount below 100 means Old Town (zip 04468), ME is cheaper than the US average. A cost of living index above 100 means Old Town (zip 04468), ME is more expensive.

Overall, Old Town (zip 04468), ME cost of living is 88.01"

LOL

You're welcome. I have found this site really helpful, and interesting. My husband is busy scouting properties on-line, then I get the city update. Maine almost always rates quite high.
