He says it's pointless to spend the money it will take when we can have that much extra cushion in the bank after the house sells. Yes, I know he's right - much wisdom there. He keeps telling me it will be soon, but SOON doesn't seem to be coming fast enough!

El, I understand your longing...I know it will happen...keep the faith...my DH has retired after (30 years teaching HS math/science and myself 30 year medical technologist) but we are working for health insurance. My DH is working here at the high school as a network specialist(computer technology) and teacher for GED night school and I am the HS webmaster, software administrator, and teacher software instructor. My DH is wanting to start a business fixing computers, maintenance, etc. using virtual tech (online support) and just got a "bite" from Maine Broker Man. This could possibily be an opening for us to move permanently in 2008. Check out the thread "Maine's Own Job Forum". Blessings, Janice

We have two spare single-beds. We set them up normally for visiting in-laws. If such would lower your projected expenses during a spring visit, we might be able to swing such for you.

Oh, El...I can so relate to how you're feeling...although we had moved to Massachusetts (which we HATED) a year earlier, so geographically it was much easier for us to visit Maine to get our "fix" for a little while...I SO wanted to be there for good.
I say fix, because personally I would relate it to how it must feel for someone who is a drug abuser.....I literally ~ached~ to be in Maine, and it became a real need that I couldn't seem to quell or truly express.
I so empathize with you
Even though I don't make resolutions and my new year was back in October...my wish for this year is that you and your family (and our other friends) get here soon.
Because anyone can move to Maine....but only a few of us come home.

Good call!
I understand completely, B! I cannot explain my heart for Maine - a place I've never lived - but to say it just belongs there. And they do say "Home is where the heart is"......

Forest, that's so sweet of you! I wish that were the majority of our expenses! These 3 growing kids are expensive to feed and fuel is a killer these days. He estimated it would cost us $600-800 in fuel alone.
Anyone want to buy my house? Alison?? You're headed south......
