Winchell's didn't make it down as far as Houston?

El, we'll get you some Mrs. Dunster's....they're not filled, they're the cake style donut....and they're so yummy!! We took the wrong exit in Sussex, NB a couple of years ago, and stumbled on Mrs Dunster's completely by accident....what a great accident!! We even got a tour of the factory and hot donuts--just made!! DH now refers to Sussex as my "Mecca"--they've got Sussex Golden Ginger Ale and Mrs. Dunster's

Never heard of Winchells. I like the plain glazed donuts. No filling. Yuck! Here, the KKs are the lightest fluffiest donuts you can find. Very yeasty!

When I used to go up to visit my folks , we used to get some wonderful donuts from a shop over in Perry Maine. They were unfilled and unfrosted or sprinkled, just delicious cake style donuts; the family favorite was the SQUASH donuts but they were all good!

Sometimes at camp we couldnt get those donuts and the convience camp store had boxed donuts with cinnamon, sugared, plain and SQUASH! They did just fine with a cuppa coffee before going out on the lake!

I still do that when I make them for my kids!

But I have become lazy and use biscuit dough, punch a hole in the middle with a plastic soda lid and fry them up. Shake them in a paper bag with your toppings and YUM,YUM-
