I figured as much..the kids would love it but I'd much rather visit at this time of year! Thanks for the info, Molly.

ok, so I'm finally all caught up on reading the threads....you guys have been busy!
and it's a beautiful fall day, so you're all outside playing, and I played this morning some, so now I'm tired....and none of you are here! darn this recovery.....
AND there's a new(er) geocache over near St Andrews.....that I really shouldn't go get because that would be over-doing it.....but it's really not that far....the border crossings probably aren't even backed up.....hmmm.....

As a mom to 2 lovely teenage daughters ( 15 and 17) I can relate.
Perhaps we need to start up a separate thread entitled
teenager.
What a trip is an understatement!! Never a dull moment!

LOL...maybe we should my daughter is almost 19 and we are well through with the "poopy head" years (in my humble opinion about 12-15 for girls and 16-18 for boys). Mine is back to being the wonderful person I knew from before.
When she was almost 16, she actually had a very intelligent statement of oinion and I looked at her and said "I'm so glad to have you back. Where have you been for the last 3 years?" Her response, " I guess I had just a really long brain fart. Sorry 'bout that." It was a beatiful thing for her to acknowledge and me to relize that I wasn't the biggest B in the whole world ( though she wouldn't dare have ever said this to my face) and I was truly on her side. Sigh... memories...

As parents who've been there, can I ask if you think the whole teenager thing "starts" about 10 for girls? I'm sure the thick of it is what you say- 12-15- from personal memory..I think that's true.My daughter is 10 and I have started to see signs of it starting already...how in the world do you get through it? I think there definitely needs to be a support group to help the poor parents survive!

Most definitely!! Countless moms and dads would sign up for that one! I survived (barely) because hubby played interceptor. Just know that you are not alone and she is now trying to forge her wings in new directions and this to shall pass. I stuck to my guns and still told her every day that I loved her. Note this did result in slamming of doors, foot stomping, etc.
I cried a lot trying to discern what could make someone I loved more than life itself, hate me so deeply. An occassional glass of wine and a tear jerker movie as a once in a while thing to get it out of your system and move on helps too.

teenage girls
Morning!
Mine started at 13. I too didn't even recognize this child. She was absolutely evil, nasty, defiant and down right rude. Once she hit about 17, things got a little better. After high school I sent her to college in Boston. She came home one weekend and I actually really liked her. She has thanked me for so many things over the years. Shown appreciation for everything I tried to teach her and is now one of the most remarkable 25 yr old women I've ever met.
Hang in there ladies, there is hope!

LOL...the foot-stomping, door-slamming thing ..too funny! So true,true,true..sigh! It does make me feel better...because your right, you can't understand how you can love someone so much it hurts and they hate you so much it hurts! Thank you ladies for your advice! I will save these posts and get my glass of wine and cry while I read them. Then I will go shopping ..and all will be well. Although..the next day -after the wine has worn off..
