Star those are beautiful!!
Thanks Bydand....I will have a look. When I was at the dealership yesterday, I asked them what was under the Rubicon or even the X (I have the Sahara)....I was wondering if there was anything there we could order and attach....there are places to attach a skid plate. They went out onto the lot for me, and put up a Rubicon on the lift. They let me go in and take a look, and there's nothing there either. Imagine, a RUBICON with a plastic evap canister unprotected by a skid plate. If you've ever looked at 4 Wheel Drive or JP Magazine, you know how well that's going to go over. So, I'm sure something is going to come out. And the '08s? Same thing!! There's still the skid plate over the front, and over the differential, but geez....how is that "trail rated"? Anyway, I will look into those sources, and until then I just have to be careful. I actually broke it in July, and didn't replace it because I knew I'd be in the woods with it all summer. But now that winter's coming I just can't leave it exposed to all that wet and salt . yesterday after it was fixed though I found some very deep puddles at the boat landing in Frankfort---deep and large.....it was a BALL!!

I've driven a lot of the trails that are in those magazines. I used to have a bracket on my front push bumper so I could add John Deere tractor weights to in order to keep the front tires on the ground during a few hill climbs. My old clunker started off life as a 1978 CJ-5 and I think the only original part is the frame. The best change was the double walled steel reinforced fiberglass body. That and I was friends with the guy who designed the paint for ZZ-tops Eliminator car back in the 80's, so he painted the new body for cost of paint. Not many Jeeps in the States with a "Hatton who else" paint job.
You couldn't pay me to repeat those again, now that I'm in my 40's. I think at least a little wisdom has crept in.

Halloween is just not supposed to be celebrated in 80 degree weather!! This is disgusting......I want to moooooooove!
Have you ever had one of those out of body experiences? I feel like my life here has already come to an end, and I'm just sitting in limbo waiting for the new life to begin. Those of you who know me I'm sure can understand that I feel as if I'm already there. My body just needs to catch up to my spirit! And no, patience has never been one of my better virtues.
My 5 y.o. came home from school today with some "artificial snow" that they made in class. It's some kind of white gel stuff that you squish between your fingers and it feels sort of watery. I asked if she told her teacher that is not the same as the snow we have in Maine! She said she'll tell her tomorrow that snow is supposed to be cold.
In a couple of weeks, I'll be dragging out the boxes of fake "wilderness" and "snow" decorations to decorate before the holidays. Once again, I'll hang the little moose and sled ornaments and pine cones on the tree and cry because we're still not there. Maybe Santa will fulfill my dream for Christmas, and we'll REALLY get to be there before long.

Aw El!! I'm sorry you're feeling a wee bit melancholy. I do know how it feels to be ready to go, but not gone yet. But look at it this way,.. The move is really gonna suck so rest up, do a little at a time and enjoy each day. You know that you have people here when you're ready, and noone here is going anywhere soon

Oh gosh, don't I know exactly how you feel! At the beginning of the year, I was so hoping that we would be home in time for Christmas this year. On some level I knew that it wasn't realistic, but still, I hoped anyway. I don't even want to decorate for the holidays. I want to leave everything packed and ready to put on the moving truck.
The only thing I want is to get back to Maine. I will never complain again about taxes (not as bad as I thought!), mud season, black fly season or how far I have to drive to purchase decent lingerie. And most important, I will NEVER EVER suffer from wanderlust ever again. Once we get home, we are staying!!! Forever!!!
Hope to see you there next Christmas El!

I know how you feel Elcarim! It has been 92 degrees and I am roasting to death. All I can think about is cooling off, when my friend calls me from Maine to tell me the weather I am so jealous. Bring on the snow I am ready!

I lived in the Waterville area most of my life; DH was in the Bangor area most of his but had moved down to central ME which is when I met him.
Neither of us wants to land back in WTVL; we will more than likely head north to Bangor or even further up.

There will be quite a few of us in Eastport (mollysmiles, corgis, moughie, mysterious lady and bewitched, me and dh (woxtroxme)). I will most likely be the last to arrive on a permanent basis.. why not join us?
