Im not going to complain about this winter- usually this time of year, we hear of towns running out of money because of plowing so much
so, if no overtime, by the plow drivers and half the hours as usual-do they get paid anyways?? or do we bank some monies for next year ????

also, a mild winter=million of gallons less oil in the furnaces/boilers

I dont want politicians anymore- politicians is latin for the word LIAR (just my opinion)
I want someone who's been in the real world, and not lived off the government nipple most of thier lives

I liked herman cain-but the liberal press pretty much lynched him (politically)-the same press that defended clinton on much worse charges
I have never been more convinced that the presidential office is nothing more than a puppet for big business. I know corruption exists every where, human's are weak and money is a drug that's hard to resist. I was hoping to get away from the machine politics and all that goes with it when we move to Maine. Are your politicians any different? Is it possible that there really are honest politicians or have I just been jaded by the corruption I've witnessed here?

It's the same here, they're just cheaper.

It's unfortunate to see such cynicism. Most elected officials are honest, hardworking, and are committed to government service. But when the bad apples get exposed, the corruption stain also rubs off on the honest majority. Unfortunately, there's corruption everywhere. But when your co-worker gets caught with his hands in the petty cash jar, it doesn't mean you're guilty too. It's our job as citizens and voters to elect the best people we can to public office, and to hold them accountable. If all politicians are liars (they are not), we're the ones who have failed.

About the press and Clinton - I recall very clearly that Clinton got the crap beat out of him for the Lewinsky episode. Clinton should not get a pass for what he did, and neither should Cain (or anyone else).

Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now.

You are absolutely correct. It's just that the rotten 97%, make the rest look bad.

Only 97% ?

I had thought it was closer to 99.95 of them that make the rest look bad.

Yeah right. I didn't post this rather eloquent tirade " Politicians grease each other so much, they don't know what honesty is", but I wish I had. It's a very accurate description of Chi Town politics. If you want to have your property taxes reduced here you had better hire an attorney. You can prove to them that there are several properties lower than yours and they will deny your appeal. We have a friend that does this every year for his business. He receives a reduction but the attorney fees eat up most of it. You have to pay the machine to play. And now our third governor has been convicted of corruption. Seriously Please tell me Maine isn't like this. Don't burst my bubble and if you do: Don't make me come over there!!!!
