His wife has a business degree and works in finance. It could be a good fit. She is already a GS employee.

Damn, I should have gone for one of the houses in Connor, or the one in New Sweden.

The ones I was interested in don't seem to be listed anymore, so if the current deal falls thru I'll have to start all over again.

I would be very careful about depending on DFAS Limestone. It almost closed a few years ago and I believe it is the only large source of employment in Northern Maine. Southern Maine is just as beautiful and so much more to do.
Good Luck.

Except of course for the HMMV remanufacturing plant that is also located at Limestone and hires more people than DFAS does.

Also the old Navy base at Cutler is still there and functioning, just no longer as a Navy base. Today it is entirely DOD contractor operated with no active duty stationed there. But there is still the full strength base security force, plus all of the technicians and engineers to maintain and operate the C4I facility, transmitters, antenna farm and power plant.

They don't have the number of employees that DFAS has though, they just have a higher turnover rate. Right down the road from DFAS is Sitel, which is a call center I think. There are more employers up here than just a few large ones. Also, while DFAS Limestone was on the list of possible closures a few years ago, almost all DFAS centers across the country were on that list. They did a big audit of them all and closed a few that were on the bottom of the list. DFAS Limestone was at the top of the list for almost all categories looked at, that is why they are expanding all the time.
Old Town Canoe is down your direction, not up here.

The last time that I looked the Old Town canoe factory is in Old Town Maine.
Right now they are expanding big time, building a HUGE new factory / warehouse to house a new hull pressing machine.
