She was a nice lady on a personal level. Never followed her career though. I wish her the best in whatever she does.

I think Chellie will try for the D nomination and talk yesterday was that Hannah, her daughter will try for Chellie's House seat. Hannah was prominent in the State Legislature before she was term limited out and then had her baby. Glad to know that Michaud will stay where he is. The veterans like him alot. He is very helpful to them.

The Huffington Post did quite a negative number on her career this morning.....and as I read it.....it made a lot of sense.

However I do wish her the best.....I have a feeling that she will be able to (and will) make greater contributions to society as a private citizen than as a beleaguered Republican Senator. It must have been a difficult past 5 or 6 years.

Default Angus King for Senator?

Well fellow Mainers...how do you feel about Angus King running for Senate? I personally like the idea. I think he did a great job as our Governor.

When Angus showed up I hoped he would be like Jim Longley (the elder) was back around 1974. He was an independent and pro-business. He served one term and didn't run again. Nobody understood why at first, but he had an illness and would not have completed a second term.

Angus was not pro-business. Angus King is the reason there is no paper company land in Maine today. They might like him down on the gold coast, but up here we know him very well.

And Eliot Cutler bowed out at the same time as King was announcing. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall during the conversation those two must have had.

Angus and Chellie had thanksgiving dinner together last year. This is like watching a Kabuki play. Olympia has very likely been offered a cabinet post to step aside gracefully. What citizens need to understand is that these people are all progressives. It makes no difference whether a progressive has a "D" or an "R" beside their name. They can change the letter like they change their socks.

There IS a Senator who once a long-time cast member on Saturday Night Live. Does that count?

Al Franken | Senator for Minnesota

Some of the reports I've seen indicate that he is a serious, hard-working member of the Senate, so he may have retired from the comedy business.

I think he's just getting some new material, cheap.
