I woke up with a bad sore throat and have gotten progressively worse throughout the day. My whole head feels full of water! Very miserable!

You must have missed my post about being sensitive to smells! Vicks all over my chest would not be sexy - at all!

if you can't put vicks on your chest then my grandmother used to rub it all over the bottom of my feet before I went to bed, then take a pair of old socks and put them on.. You'll wake up in the morn and your nose should be much more clear. Worked for me all the time. Or if you really wanna talk about sexy my grams used to fry onions, stick them in a cheese cloth and lay them on my chest.. phew talk about a wake up call!!

YIKES I've not heard that one.
My dad always had us drink a little warm milk with some good whiskey - sounds odd - but we thought it worked.....maybe it just knocked us out and we could sleep.

Feel better soon.

I take off on a hike. It invigorates the circulatory system and makes your nose run. It clears the head. Cough drops with Zinc will shorten the duration if it's flu. I also like Vicks inhalers. They clear the sinuses quite well.

I have a theory about colds and Maine. The early Mainers enured some pretty bad weather and cold winters. I think they had colds much of the time. Children learned to talk from such people. They imitated their parents and siblings. After a while everybody thought you were supposed to talk that way even if you didn't have a cold. Hence the origins of the Down East Maine accent. I bet even Elcarim sounds that way today.

(OK, I'll just go away quietly.)
