I bet they were Vermont ANG jets as well. I know they train over northern VT/NH/ME.

I don't think so....these irresponsibly low-flying jets are deadly to residents they're flying over...here is one of perhaps more such tragedies in the future:

Flying that low and painted green, my first guess for the planes the OP saw would be USAF or ANG A-10 Warthogs, which are basically tank killers whose standard mode of operation is just above the treetops. Were they very streamlined and like most fighters (fA-18, F16, etc.), or did the wings stick straight out? On an A10, the wings are straight, and they are a 1-man aircraft (as opposed to 2 like many fighters). Other than those, I'm not sure what there is that would be smaller than a cargo- or tanker-type jet, yet painted green or camo or similar. The USMC Harrier idea mentioned by others also sounds plausible to me though.

I saw them. They also had dual tail fins characteristic of the F-15, F-22, and F-35. They were twin engine so F-35 is out. IIRC, the tail fins were off vertical so that would mark them as F-22s as the F-15 tails are pretty much straight up and down.

I could be wrong- I only got a very short look at them from the rear as they were very low and very fast, banking hard left (heeled over almost 90*) over the end of ColdBrook road. Just a snapshot glance but that was my impression.

I've heard jet flyovers in the Bridgton/Naples area many times. They come so suddenly and disappear so quickly, that with the trees overhead, you're lucky to spot anything. The few times I've caught a glimpse I was shocked to see it was military fighter jets. Should have known with the speed they go by! Was pretty surprised though because I didn't know an air base was anywhere near here. A google search led me to this awhile back:

vr840

Apparently there's a military training 'corridor' in the area?

Kind of neat. Those guys fly so low and so dang fast...that must be the coolest job in the world. I used to know a retired 747 pilot who had been flying cargo and passenger jets his entire life, and when I asked him about how fun flying must have been he said "Nah, like driving a big flying bus. Now those fighter pilots....they have fun." I wish you could sign up for fly-along guest passes or something, that would be the experience of a lifetime!
