The Walmart in Newport(Palmyra border) is about 40 miles away too. Probably an easier commute using route 7 all the way. From my house in Dover on route 7, Walmart is just 24 miles away.

Piscataquis County may have no new car dealerships but has only two stoplights in the entire county and they're both in downtown Dover. Beat that.

OK. I'll concede that it's 41.37 miles to the WalMart. It seems less with the Interstate and all. I'm a big fan of Piscataquis County and a long term advocate for rural Maine. Lincoln actually has four, count em, four traffic lights. That's because they have six banks and a credit union, more churches than you can count, a good hospital and 13 lakes. It is the economic center of the region.

Thanks everyone for the information. It really helps. Im not much of a Wlamart shopper even though where I live now there is one about 20 minutes down the road.....big box stores kinda freak me out. Is there just a regular sized grocery store, gas station, pharmacy nearby in Sebec? And whats a cord of hardwood going for up there these days? The place we are looking at has a nice medium size woodstove in the livingroom that I cant wait to use. God, I have missed wool socks and longjohns....

Sebec really doesn't have any stores in the village I don't think. But there is Sebec Village Store on the corner of Sebec Village Road and Maine 16, the Dover-Milo Road. Then either Dover (2.5 miles) or Milo (2.6 miles) for all services. Sebec only has about 650 residents.

As for wood, I'm stumped by the question. I could bark out a guess but that would leave you barking up the wrong tree.
